What is your Personal Mission Statement?
What is it about your life that matters the most? Have you defined what you stand for and believe in? Stephen Covey, author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, recommends writing a personal mission statement that will inspire you and give direction and guidance in your life.

Think deeply about your values and aspirations.

Identify an Influential Person
and write the answers to the following questions.

Who has been one of the most influential people in my life?

Which qualities do I most admire in that person?

What qualities have I gained (or desire to gain) from that person?

Define What You Want to Be, Do, Have

What I'd like to BE

What I'd like to DO

What I'd like to HAVE

Define Your Life Roles
Here are a few sample roles:

Wife, mother, manager, communication specialist, finance specialist

Husband, father, son, director, leader, scout master

Healthy living, Tips, nutrition

Define up to seven roles and write them down.
Next, project yourself forward in time and write a brief statement of how you would most like to be described in that particular role.
Use words such as leader, ethical, spiritual, competitive, compassionate, challenge, balance, trust, quality, family, friends, caring, love, faith, honesty and others that describe your distinguishing values.

By identifying your life roles, you will gain perspective and balance. By writing descriptive statements, you will begin to visualize your highest self. You will also identify your core principles and the values you desire to live by.

You are now ready to write a DRAFT mission statement
This will take some time and deep thought on your part. Carry this draft with you and make notes, additions and deletions before attempting another draft.

Review your Healthy living draft.

Does it represent the best that is within you?
Do you feel good about what this mission statement represents?
Do you feel direction, purpose, challenge, and motivation when your review your mission?
What do you need to start doing now to be where you want to be tomorrow?

Review your statement periodically. Review it. change it, and evaluate it. Be sure nutrition inspires the best within you. A mission is not an end result but a journey--a beacon by which to live your life. If you are ready to make a permanent copy, do so and commit it to memory.
